Sorry for the break!

Well, I'm back.  I thought this would be easy, but I was wrong.  Finding something interesting to write about on a regular basis is not as easy as it would, at first, appear.  So my intention is to just get on here and write as and when the need arises.

So, we held out first workshop in our fantastic new venue on Saturday.  It is the Cambridge Belfry, Cambourne and it exceeded our high expectations.  Everyone was greeted on arrival and taken directly to the room, where coffee and many teas were available, with a Danish pastry!  We had arrived without a mains cable for the projector and one was soon found from - who knows where, and we were able to set up with little or no fuss.

I used my Power Point presentation for the first time and it was such a boon, as it gave the students a reference point for their tasks rather than having to leaf through their manuals all the time.  Unfortunately it was not my latest editioin of the presentation, but they weren't to know that.  Morning break arrived with copiouse tea and coffee and individually wrapped biscuits.  Lunch was four courses! in a buffet settingand all to the highest standards.

It was around this time that a wedding descended on the establishment and areas we had been using for break-out practice sessions were at a premium, so-much-so that the final one had to be done within the confines of the room.  This turned out to be fine as the acoustics meant that one group was not overhearing the next, so it went without a hitch.

Afternoon break arrived, along with the most succulent golden syrup flapjacks and fruit skewers I had tasted, but by this time we were pretty-well loaded to the gunwales with rich food - together with the two large bowls of Quality Street in the middle of the table - that a fair bit of it was left.  Unfortunate, but I suppose that the staff have to eat as well......

All-in-all a fantastic day, with top-notch feedback.  We have booked November 27th for the next Level 1 and January 15th and 29th for level 2, so we have finally found our roost for forthcoming events.  We arrived home 45 minutes later and after retiring at 11:00 pm, slept solidly until 10:00 the next morning!  I love that about EFT; a concentrated amount will relax you so much that you sleep like a log.

So, until the next time that there is anything of slight interest, goodbye for now!

Enhanced Sports Performance

Yes!  EFT can help you to be much better at your chosen sport.  Most people would think to get better at sport, work or anything where performance is measured, EFT would not be the first port-of-call.  But this would be an erroneous thought, as the way EFT works is not to improve what you are doing, but to dissolve the reasons that are not doing your best.

The mother of a young man aged around 14 contacted me as her son was a county level junior golfer whose game had stalled of late.  She brought him in and left us to it.  After some general chat and some light questioning, I asked him to tell me what had happened prior to the onset of the issue.  He said that he had been having problems with his girlfriend and we tapped on this which we cleared in one or two rounds.  I then tested results to see if he was clear, by asking him to visualise himself on the first tee and tell me what he was thinking as he was taking his swing.

He explained the swing and the result was a Hooked shot.  I asked what was going through his mind as he looked at the ball and he said it was his father and the argument they had over Christmas.  The row was a rolling one that spread over a few hours, so I used The Film Technique to defuse each hiatus as we reached it until he was able to retell all the events of the evening without any anxiety at all.  I then got him to address the ball again and swing.  Again, a hooked shot.  I asked what he was now thinking about as he swung.

This time it was his grandmother who had passed away a few months before.  The issue that was causing concern for the lad was that he was playing golf as she died and he could not be with her.  This time I had him visualise himself, sitting with his gran, holding her hand and as he tapped he spoke to her, explaining that he was playing golf and she had already told him it was OK and she knew why he couldn't be there at the end.  He was able to say goodbye and accept that she was fine with him playing golf as it was his passion and what he lived for.  The moment he said "goodbye" to his visualised gran, I saw the tension in his face and body just melt.

We now worked on the game again.  He saw himself swing and connect with the ball and this time it was straight down the middle!  I asked him to look down at the ball again and what was going through his mind.  This time his focus was solely on the game and nothing else came along to interfere with this.

Two days later I was sitting at home and my work mobile rang. I answered and it was the lad's mother.  She was calling to tell me that he had just come in from a tournament that he won outright!  So remember, to improve physical and mental performance, work out what is blocking energy flows or unbalancing this, then tap on everything that is getting in the way of optimum focus on the desired outcome.

The Big Bang!

The group in the previous posting gave me many fantastic stories that i hope to share with my readers on this blog, but the next case I will tell you about not only shows the power of EFT to completely dissolve deeply embedded phobias, but the use of testing techniques which are so important to permanent healing.

This lady had had a fear of any "Bangs", whether doors, hands clapping and worst of all; balloons bursting.  She was 59 years old and married.  She still worked and lived locally.  We examined her history and discovered that as a small child she was the but of pranks by her elder brothers and one event was when she was scared by one of them with bursting a balloon.

We all sat and talked to her to discover all this and at one point I asked her how she would react if someone in the audience had a balloon with them.  She completely freaked and it took a while to calm here together with my reassurance that there was not a balloon to be had anywhere.

The tapping was quite straightforward with two or three rounds following a set-up which included her brother's actions as a child, ballons at birthday parties and Christmas time were particularly traumatic times; and other times when bangs had had reactions, cars backfiring etc.

Her SUDs reduced rapidly from a 10, to zero as it was a "simple" phobia with no other issues attached to it.  Then, as a test, I asked the same question again; "What would you do if I said someone in here had indeed secreted a balloon about them for the occasion?"  Her reaction was very calm as she said she would be interested to see herself.  I explained that there was a large one, blown up and hidden behind the serving area which we used for tea and biscuits at half time.  I went over and brought it out and there was not even a flinch from her.  A week later she went to her 60th birthday party with loads of ballonns and bangs and not problems!

See you next time.

Phobias (Frogs/Toads) and ASPECTS

A couple of years ago I was one of three practitioners that ran an evening "Tapping Group" on a local housing estate, in their Community Centre.  Many wonderful things happened here and the following story is one of them and the reason for its inclusion here, is due to the "group" effect that it had.

We were coming up to the end of the evenings work, when the group - around 12 - 14 ladies - were asked if there was anything else they would like to bring up.  One lady said "I get really scared when I walk the dog at night and there are frogs about".  At this point about four others said they had issues with either frogs or toads.  So, as it was going to be a group tap, we took each one and asked for ONE thing that they were panicked by.

"The way they skitter about in the leaves (it was autumn)", "their slippery, shiny skin", "that tongue!", "horrible eyes", "JUMPING UP AT ME!", " that warty skin" and I'm sure, several more.  So we wrote these down on the board and used them all to make the set-up phrase and then reminder phrases as we tapped around the sequence.  Before we commenced we asked for the SUDs of each one and 8, 9 & 10 were the results.

We did one full round of EFT which included the fingers and Gammut sequence and the SUDs dropped appreciably.  I asked then if any further aspects had surfaced - they often do once the overriding aspect(s) have been reduced - and a couple had so we added them to the reminder phases and did two more rounds of the short-cut routine.  This cleared everyone down to between zero (most) and two.

They felt great and we closed the evening's proceedings.  At this point, we would normally just clear away the chairs and cups etc. and the ladies would gradually wander out chatting or hanging back to ask us about personal issues.  This evening however, it was like they were on speed!  the doors were flung open and a grand frog-hunt was on to test their results.  Remember these were women that fifteen minutes earlier were imprisoned on autumn evenings due to their fear of amphibians!  They were last seen heading for the fields shouting, "There's one; oh @*"#, it's jumped away!"

A success I think.  The following week they were fine and reported walking dogs and generally walking out of an evening was now something they did without thinking about the jumping, skittering, slimy menace lurking for them.

Next time - The Big Bang!

Your power to manifest - ANYTHING!

This is a short post today, but it should provide a degree of mirth, it's all about manifestation, or bringing what you want into your life.  It's called "The Blue Feather Technique"!

The idea that you can manifest ANYTHING can be a bit hard to swallow for some.  First-off I will say that it is not an EFT technique at all, although the Choices" technique may be employed to speed things up.

What is entailed is your concentration on something that is a rare occurrence in your normal life - a blue feather - so if you work in the  Folies-Bergère or Los Vegas, pick something else!  Be aware every time this object enters your life.  Your WILL alone will attract blue feathers to you.  If it works for blue feathers so for anything else that you concentrate on.  After all: - "As a man thinketh in his heart, so is he." (I am assured it works just as well if you substitute "Woman").  It's all to do with the "Law of Attraction"

To use EFT ro turbo charge the process, i would use something along the lines of: Even though, I cannot recall ever seeing a blue feather and they don't normally occur in nature and i know this is going to be really hard to do; i now choose to find blue feathers in abundance, just about everywhere I look; at work; at home; at play and when doing sport or even relaxing in my favourite place.

So, give it a try and expect the best!

Visualisation and EFT

I often ask patients with issues over driving to visualise a particularly traumatic journey in conjunction with the "Film Technique", but without the constant re-starting.  In other words telling the story whilst re-living it in the mind.

This works so well that other, less fraught journeys, just dissolve away with the primary event.  I will relate the tale of one of my early successes with this technique.  This was a lady with children that had grown married and had young families of their own.  it was due to one of the grandchildren that the issue reared its head after lying dormant for years.

The patient lived in a lovely rural village and was happy to drive around her friends' and family's houses in the area, but due to the parents work schedules there was a grand-daughter beginning school with no transport, so the mother the lady's daughter, asked if Gran would mind and she said she'd be more than happy.  Unfortunately it meant that a good deal of major road driving would be necessary.  This is when the underlying problem became a major sticking point.

It was all because of a day some years back when another daughter needed picking up from an airport some 80 miles away and about a one and a half hoer's journey.  She drove and following an intimidating trip had to pull off and sit and shake for nearly an hour whilst calling another family member to pick her up and complete the journey.

We tapped on the journey as she was driving it.  At the first sign of anxiety we tapped until the 8 became a 2 and carried on.  At the next point - being between two lorries - and tapped the 9 to a 1.  We carried on until the sitting and shaking in the car.  After a brief pause to take on some water I asked her to re-live the trip.  this time it was calm and gentle and each previous point of hiatus I asked how she felt and she was fine.  she drove home with no problem and dropped me a line the next day say not only was she OK about the forthcoming trips - she was looking forward to driving!

Another email came a few days later and she reminded me of her trip to me on the day of the consultation.  The road leading to my practice is a major rout to the coast and the grass verge is punctuated with little memorial to people killed along it.  This was one thing that really built the nerves for the lady on that day, but the email said that on the return journey se neve even noticed them. This was about 4 - 5 years ago and things are still great for her.

A Really Annoying Condition

This is about something which pops up from time to time and can really catch you unawares.  it's called Secondary Gain.  I give a talk about this in my Level 1 workshop uner the heading of "When EFT Doesn't Work", which is probably the only time that it is out of the therapists hands.  One of the graduates from my last practitioner course wrote to me about a client they were working with.  This client is fairly elderly and incapacitated by pain and general disability.

Following one session they had little pain and could stand and walk around.  By the second visit everything had returned to square one?  After the second visit the client was pain-free and fully ambulant, so-much-so that a shopping trip of some three hours was undertaken with no ill effects and no sign of any problems returning.  A couple of days later the therapist heard that all was as if nothing had ever been helped.

On looking from my vantage point of distance - both geographically and metaphorically (see previous blog-post) -  I could see that the support and caring network that friends and family had installed around the client had made them the recipient of a geat deal of attention.  Fully fit, this network was unnecessary so the client felt removed from everyone that had been in their life for the past number of years.  Therefore the subconscious had reinstalled the health issues so the focus of attention would return to the client.

My poor, newly qualified therapist, was asking what they were doing wrong and I was able to put their mind at ease and congratulate them for the fantastic work they had done over two visits.  I reacquainted them with the horrible reason; Secondary Gain! Now they have this realisation it doesn't hurt any more.  What I said might possibly save the situation, not to mention the client's health, was to ask them a simple question: Is getting attention more beneficial to her than getting better?  I

Until next time; love and energy,

John.

Have you tried Surrogating at all?

I will be the first to admit that I was one of the most sceptical of trainees at my Level 1 Workshop over six years ago now and one of the more difficult aspects I really couldn't swallow, was the idea of surrogating for others - and even animals.  I still haven't tried it on animals but I have become a convert to surrogating people, especially now I am acquainted - all most people can be - with Quantum Physics/Theory.  For those of you that have no idea what I am talking about, I would recommend;
"What The Bleep Do You Think You Know?" and "Further Down The Rabbit Hole" and when your eyes have uncrossed and focused again, you will understand that everything in time and space are connected to EVERY-thing else.

Once this is accepted in your conscious mind you will be able to realise how and why surrogating works and works IMMEDIATELY!  I was on the "Chat" window of FaceBook the other night to a lovely friend that I have made on there and they were explaining that there were some health issues that could impinge on the family as a whole, due to what they saw as inconsiderate behaviour by a friend.  We conversed as well as we could in this flaky medium, but when we parted I felt that they needed some acceptance and calm, so I tapped on their issues and fed this into the set-up and then the short-cut sequence.  I dropped them a line to say I had done it and an hour or two later I went back on line and discovered an e-mail from them.  It said that just after our chat, they felt a warmth wrap around them and a feeling of relaxation entered their body.  When they noticed my e-mail some time later, the timing on the mail was exactly when they felt the energy shift.  Magic!

Acceptance is the key to healing as far as i am concerned and I will write this up in a future blog to share with you.  Until next time; live long and prosper.

Love and energy,  John.

Distance is Great for Therapy!

As an experienced therapist and trainer of EFT, I often get chat calls on FaceBook from either students or people I have on my "Friends" list - over a hundred now.   They can be absolutely anywhere and the feeling that although they are on my lap-top screen, they are actually the other side of the world, is quite surreal.  The remoteness is quite helpful as is gives me space to think in.  I know that makes no sense, but that is how it comes across to me.  Also there is the typing part of the process.  It again stretches out the time and the concentration on the wording and grammar also stretch the thinking process into deeper realms.

Tonight I was chatting to two people at once; one in Canada and one in the next town and swapping between them added yet another dimension to this already multi layered consultation.   As questions were asked I could see the answers so clearly and the typing was smooth and accurate to boot.  I love EFT and helping either other practitioners with their work, or patients with their problems and social networking has really opened up the world to me - quite literally!

Distance came into its own today, when one of my friends was complaining that she had a lot of symptoms after explaining a deeply emotional event that had happened recently.  From the benefit of my couch I could see this was not a lot of symptoms, but a very emotional core issue that was switching aspects as the friend got close to tapping the presenting symptom away.  So I explained and it was as if the lights came on for them.  All clear now.  Let's see what tomorrow brings....
